Hey there! This one was a lot of fun to make! Ever since the lawn mower video I've been wanting to do this, and I've been working on it all week. Thank you for those of you who support us on Patreon! You bring stability to my family's life. My goal is to be a light during this time. www.patreon.com/smartereveryday
I know the world is a bit crazy at the moment. I wish you and your family peace and love. Spread the love and help others where you can. Look for the positive stories of people coming together in unity and try to amplify them.
There's a lot of disinformation at the moment so if you recall what we learned together in the social media disinformation series, think twice before you share something!
    Warm Regards,
    Destin

I work for Lowe's and have found that if you soak the trimmer line in a bucket of water for 24 to 48 hours the line gets much more durable. Hope it helps you

Seeing the amount of elastic deformation and abrasion the line has to sustain, I can't help but wonder what the temperature is like at the end of the line. Do they do slow-mo thermal cameras?

Wow, weed eaters actually put off plastic litter, even if small that is going into the soil/water below. Makes sense but it's actually quite a bit. May not be a huge deal,, just means companies hopefully are making their weed eater lines out of eco-friendly products vs just plastic.

if you’re a righty you should absolutely be trimming from left to right. right to left would be walking backwards basically

  • Iron Patriot Johnson

I call it a "grass trimmer" because I use it to trim grass. It doesn't "EAT" grass or weeds or anything. I trim the grass where my mower can't go.
I've been using those yellow plastic blade rather then line. They don't work well next to wall or fences. The blade tend to kill the the engine when it hits something that
doesn't move and the blades tend to wear down quicker then I thought they would. I have a lot of brick landscaping and the brick wears those blades down. The brick is why
I got away from the line spools. The line would break to easily.

I have been string trimming for more than 30 years. And over that time have noticed a buildup of string trimming line bits in the inviorment. I wonder what the total inviormentl impact is and will be over the next 30 years. Things like total pounds introduced into the inviorment and how it effects everything.

At 11:32 it almost looks like part of the process is the the plastic wire wrapping around the metal fence creates friction, causing the plastic to rub and almost melt, aiding in the breaking of the line.
