Ukraine vs. Spain REACTION: Adama Traore hindered by slow style of play? | ESPN FC

  • Published on Oct 13, 2020
  • What is going wrong with Spain? Was its style of slow buildup play its biggest downfall? ESPN FC’s Alejandro Moreno and Julien Laurens recap Ukraine’s “well organized” backline, but lament Luis Enrique’s side for lacking consistency in attacking positions. Moreno does praise Adama Traore for his explosiveness, but feels Spain “usher the ball” to Traore and take his space away.

Lots of advantageous comments. Spain lost because of his 21 shots they did not put even one - because they has no center forward - and because Ukraine scored a goal of pure luck.
You don’t need to be a football expert to see that with 72% possession and 21 shots any team with a striker wins 5-0. lol

It seems easy to blame De Gea on the goal!...another talk for @ManUtd to pick Dean Henderson ahead of him. Anyone that watched that match could see that Spain kept a high line & whenever Ukraine 🇺🇦 played a long ball over the defense De Gea always came out to clear the ball. unlucky for the goal though.

    DION KUNGU Month ago

The only positive is , there is something new. And Adama can offer that. But there has to be changes. Since Spain has players that could potentially play any system. 4231 ,433, 343, 352. And at this point if I were Enrique I would be working on this. Instead of calling new players everytime to play the same system. Yet it doesn't suit them at all.
Spain has Regulon , Marco Alonso , Jordi Alba , Jose Gaya. All attacking fullbacks who can be wing backs. On the right Cavajal , Navas, Cesar Az.
Good attacking and central midfielders , who are young and experienced.Wingers who can score goals,as long as there is enough service. Stikers, there are a few but there are some who are really experienced that bring something different. Centre Backs. Spain has all kinds of Centre Backs. Who can play any system. That's what the coach should be working on.

Not a Ukraine fan at all but they deserve much more credit for this win and the way they set up. I like that Shevchenko, despite his progressive football philosophy, realised that Ukraine will be exposed if they play a much more experienced and talented team in the same way they play 'smaller' teams and tries a different style. Reminds me of Arteta's approach at Arsenal against the 'bigger' teams.

  • Marley Boy

Idk why y'all are shocked. Spain current team is mediocre right now. It's not 2012 anymore. Spain no longer has David villa, iniesta, xavi or torres. Iñiesta and xavi were the reason for Spain's dominance, without them, Spain is a top 30 country. You have to be delusional to think they have been winning due to tactical strategies. They struggled to tie against germany's B team and got a lucky goal against Switzerland lmao.

A Man of sorrows and acquainted with grief. And we hid, as it were, our faces from Him; He was despised, and we did not esteem Him. 4 Surely He has borne our griefs And carried our sorrows; Yet we esteemed Him stricken, Smitten by God, and afflicted. 5 But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, And by His stripes we are healed. 6 All we like sheep have gone astray; We have turned, every one, to his own way; And the Lord has laid on Him the iniquity of us all. 7 He was oppressed and He was afflicted, Yet He opened not His mouth; He was led as a lamb to the slaughter, And as a sheep before its shearers is silent, So He opened not His mouth._*
