ESPN FC's former Chelsea stars at odds after Blues' 3-0 win at Burnley | Premier League

  • One says Kai Havertz is oozing confidence playing in a central role. The other says he needs to see more from the German midfielder. One is impressed by Frank Lampard's side's progression, with a fourth clean sheet in five matches. The other says a 3-0 win at Burnley wasn't good enough. Following Chelsea's successful trip (or was it?) to Turf Moor, two former Blues, ESPN FC's Craig Burley and Frank Leboeuf, debate about their takeaways from the result.

Seriously this guy has something against Frank Lampard .. He wants that guy sacked .. I never have seen any pundit go after him like that 4-0 in CL I agree it was a flattering scoreline and against Burnley it was such a fine performance and everyone knows how hard it is at Burnley ..so why this guy is making excuse for Burnley saying they are not good due to lack of fans in the stadium.

Chelsea look the real deal.. big result for gunners today. They just need consistency. that side play good football. also I think partay is a PLAYER! really see him slotting into any side if im being honest. Liverpool had an excuse to drop points this weekend but didn't. City with a pedestrian but important win and don't look now but saints and newcastle are getting big results. Chelsea and spurs look proper title challenging sides. WHAT A YEAR! So many fun sides to watch. Even look at wolves and Leicester who are pillars of consistency. This is the best I can remember the PL being in a while!!

I am happy Zouma was not sent on loan. He is the most passionate Chelsea players I have seen in the last few years. Even when he was having a bad day, you will notice his passion to challenge for every ball. We need to keep him. I believe the arrival of Silver will allow him to develop faster.

Kante played for very first time in two years in his position, Mendy is great,Thiago is Thiago, Zyech is proving to be success for sure. The studious ignoring the return of Kante to where he belongs by pundits and such is almost laughable, he along with Zyech were our best players in this game. But they may be a right to do that, we might see Jorgi there again in the very next game so better keep it quiet haha.

Havertz loses possession a bit too much for me; he misplaces a pass or two too many. . And every now and then he looks clunkier than you’d expect from a player of his supposed quality when he’s close to the touchline. I expect more from him in attack going forward. But he’s still developing and adapting. Some style of players will inevitably adapt slower than others to the Prem . Still excited to have him though... he’s one for the nearer rather than far future .

I'm a Chelsea fan and I'm happy with the performance so far, but to be honest, we still need that top performance against a top team that will let us know how good we are. It's like back in the 2016 season with Conte when we put together some good performances against teams and it was until that away game at City that pretty much proved that squad was for real. We need that kind of game with this current squad.

Pulisic is 22(2nd season in the PL), Havertz(21, 1st season in the PL), Werner(24, 1st season in the PL), Mount(21, 2nd season in the PL). You can't ask a bunch of youngsters to do it week in week out in just their 1st/2nd in the PL. They need time. When they turn 24-25, they'll be unstoppable.

I do agree with Frank L..am not yet convinced with this display..good as it is,Burnley played with a lot of reservation...and even if they played well, score line would probably be that same thing but then Chelsea would AV been tested to the max..a lot of errors on Burnley side defensively and mid field gave us a smooth ride..also hope lampard sticks to a formation the boys are easily adaptable to..I trust he would want to show some kinda genius in teh next match and start tinkering formations and positions of players..and make a simple game an up hill task

Frank is right. There were several plays with potential goal scoring opportunities that broke down because the players were not reading each other. I also want more from Havertz. We need goals and assists from him as well as what we saw from him in this game.

Burnley and Sheffield U exposed, their fans influenced refs calls with touch fouls against them, that one time Burnley beat Chelsea they got a red card, and Chelsea played average, Mendy so far is what's making Chelsea look good and these nitwits talking about Havertz and Silva great impact
