  • Mathew Omeye-Howell & (his mother) Sade entered the Den seeking a £75,000 investment to help expand their Nigerian food brand 'Jollof Box', in return the Dragon will receive a 15% equity stake. No matter how hard you fight for power, the Dragons will always see through the surface...
An international sensation, Dragon's Den features entrepreneurs pitching for investment in the Den from our Dragons, five venture capitalists willing to invest their own money in exchange for equity.

The main problem is that most African food is awful, excepting North Africa. It's a tiny curiosity market. How can it compete with delicious foods from all over the world?

As for kitchens, they probably need a mix of both. For every n number of outlets, say for every 6 locations to start, one big kitchen to cook the main items and transport to the local outlets daily - to maintain quality control and obtain certain cost savings. Each location would also need their own location, but definitely bigger than the 2x2m the son wanted which has me concerned about his planning and vision. The big kitchen(20x30m minimum) is probably $200K with new properly functioning industrial grade equipment, the smaller locations can be easily built within the rental space for just heating and serving. (3x6m minimum)

Mum: typical type who doesn't understand the difference between hustle and business working for 12 hours a day for £100 and not knowing how much profit you're making is a hustle. The son gets business, these two people sum up African businesses world wide and you'll note that it's the incompetent one making all the noise and costing the legit ones much-needed investment?

One big kitchen to cook in masses to send to other outlets, nah. Every outlet should have their own kitchen. I don’t know much about buisness so correct me if this doesn’t sound right.

"I am the cook and I need a bigger modern kitchen"

You mean - to manage customer expectations, deliver value in a hygienic sanitary environment to government code?
